Perspective

Catholic Schools
Faith – Academics - Service
Across our nation January 29 - February 4 has been declared Catholic
Schools Week. We celebrate who we are and proclaim our priorities
- first, faith, the foundation of our life; then academics, the
learning that characterizes our schools; and finally service, putting
our faith and learning to work helping others.
These three priorities make Catholic Schools stand out from other
educational institutions. Our children are exposed to faith - not
just the basic tenants of Christianity, but how to have a relationship
with God. They experience the beautiful rituals and mysteries
that make up our Catholic religion.
Our children are taught academics which in St. Rita School are held to
high standards, to help each child reach his or her potential.
They experience service, the giving of one’s time and effort to help
others, as an expression of both faith and good citizenship.
There are nearly 7,000 Catholic schools in the United States with more
than 2 million students. Education, the process of learning, is a key
value in the Catholic Church. We understand that before we can
love God, neighbor and self, we must know something about them.
We believe that “The glory of God is humanity fully alive,” and we know
that the fullness of life comes when we know, understand and appreciate
God’s wondrous creation.
As we celebrate, we thank you, our St. Rita parishioners for your support. Know, that you our benefactors are prayed for.
Peace and Joy
