March 28, 2010 Pastor's PerspectiveToday’s
Palm Sunday liturgy begins with the blessing of the palms and the
procession commemorating the Lord’s entrance into Jerusalem. The
Church sings out with “Hosanna to the Son of David”. As we are
about to begin the procession, the Deacon invites us: “Let us go forth
in peace, praising Jesus our Messiah, as did the crowds who welcomed
Him to Jerusalem”’
As we begin this holiest week of the church year we are called to more
than acting out an annual pageant. We are called to make this
week different – to set aside other activities and priorities in order
to follow Him with our hearts and to absorb all that He does for us . .
. “One who did not know sin, became sin and died for us, that we
might be redeemed.”
Please note in the bulletin and the Lenten program, the schedule of the
wonderful celebrations of the Sacred Triduum: Holy Thursday, Good
Friday and the Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday. This is the very
heart of our faith journey. Paul said, “If Christ is not raised,
then neither are we - indeed we are the biggest fools of all!”
I invite you this week to stop – and to follow: “Let us go forth in peace, praising Jesus our Messiah …“
May this indeed be a Holy and Life-giving week for all of us.
Peace,
Fr. Chuck
