Farewell from Fr. Bob . . .
It is with no small measure of regret that I finish my ministry as
Senior Associate at St. Rita Church. I am deeply grateful for the
kind way in which you shared your faith and values with me. How
much I appreciated your faithful presence and active participation at
the Eucharist each weekend. I enjoyed the interest of all the
children at Mass.
Fr. Chuck and the resourceful and competent staff made my work easy and
light. How blessed St. Rita is to have so many good lectors,
Eucharistic Ministers, greeters, ushers and altar servers. I will
miss your familiar faces and words of encouragement, the tasty
breakfasts and conversations we had together after Mass and the joyful
way you join our leaders of song in lifting your hearts to the Lord in
praise.
New challenges and new faces await me at the Church of the Assumption
in Fairport. Rest assured, I will continue the fine Catholic
tradition I found here at St. Rita in my classmate, Fr. Chuck, and in
all the people here.
After 39 years of priestly service, I remain passionate about my
vocation. You have helped me grow in faith and in closeness to
Jesus. Thank you for your enthusiastic support, the relationships
we have formed, the welcome feedback you have offered and your
prayers. I leave in full awareness that more talented priests
have preceded me here and younger and more gifted ones will
follow.
I wish Fr. Hoan peaceful, fruitful and happy days here and look forward
to sharing with Fr. Hoan the pastoral shepherding of God’s
flock. I am happy to have served, however short a time, as a
priest at St. Rita Church.
In big and small, in pleasant and difficult things, whatever God asks
of us, we should be willing to do, even if it requires sacrifice.
Remember me in prayer, as I’ll remember you.
In Christ’s love and mine,
Fr. Bob
