Pastor's Perspective
For the past two years Fr. Bob Beligotti has served here at St. Rita
Parish as Senior Associate. In that capacity he has exercised a
wonderful ministry whether with the sick and homebound, presiding at
liturgies, and preaching the Word with great care. Always he has
demonstrated great faith, a deep love for the liturgy of the Church and
a genuine care for people and all their needs.
Last week we learned that Bishop Clark feels he is needed at Assumption
Parish in Fairport and has assigned him there effective June 26.
Fr. Bob and I go back many years – 47 years to be exact –
when we were studying together first at St. Andrews and then at St.
Bernard’s Seminary. We, in fact, were ordained together, by
Bishop Sheen on June 1, 1968.
It has been a great joy for me and a great source of support to have
him ministering here. Like all of you, I will miss him very much
and pray that the Lord will “prosper the work of his hands”
as he takes up this new assignment.
Fr. Bob’s last weekend here will be June 23-24 and we are
planning a reception after each mass that weekend for all of us to
express our gratitude.
Finally, I can assure you that Bishop Clark plans to assign a priest
here in light of the continued growth of our 2400 family parish . . .
more on this later.
For now let me simply and with heart say thank you Bob for all you have given us ~ your ministry and your friendship.
Easter peace,
Fr. Chuck
