Pastor's Perspective
This Wednesday is Ash Wednesday and we begin our Lenten Journey ~
following the Lord who is “our way”. As He tells us
in the Gospels, if we would be His disciples, we must take up our cross
each day and follow Him. Sometimes our daily crosses are little
ones and other times we are challenged by a heavy cross of pain, or
loss, or a task that just seems too much. The secret is to
remember that he journeys with us each step of the way.
St. Francis deSales puts it well in a beautiful little prayer:
Peace
Do not look forward to what might happen tomorrow;
the same everlasting Father who cares for you today,
will take care of you tomorrow, and every day.
Either he will shield you from suffering,
or He will give you unfailing strength to bear it.
Be at peace then and put aside
all anxious thoughts and imaginations.
As we follow Him this Lent may we learn to trust in His loving presence with us each step along the way.
Peace and Happy Lent,
Fr. Chuck
