Pastor's Perspective
This past Monday I rode with my Mom in a Medical van to her
doctor’s appointment. Along the way the young driver asked
about what parish I was from and this led to a long conversation about
various saints, cathedrals and his desire to do the Ignation Exercises,
and how they might be available to him as a layman. (They are
– in an experience called the 19th Day Annotation).
It was not an inquiry one hears often – and I was touched by his sincerity, depth and his search for a deeper prayer life.
Our Parish Vision calls for all of us to grow in our spiritual vitality and deepen our relationship with God.
There is indeed a great spiritual hunger in our youth and young adults
and we need as a Church to open the rich treasury of the spiritual life
of our Church and the great diversity of prayer forms available.
As Lent approaches, we might all give some thought to our own spiritual
hungers and consider the ways that are open to us to grow in our prayer
and our relationship with the Lord.
Peace,
Fr. Chuck
