OPERATION RICE BOWL

Lenten Folder Update

St. Rita's will again participate in Catholic Relief Services' Lenten program, Operation Rice Bowl, as a part of our Lenten observance. This helps fund Catholic Relief Services' development projects in over 65 countries, as well as poverty and hunger alleviation programs throughout the United States. 25% of the funds collected by St. Rita's remain in our diocese to affirm the importance of our global responsibility as Christians to assist those in need.

Lenten folders are located in this bulletin as a way to give 25 cents each day throughout Lent. During Lent you are encouraged to pray, fast, learn, and give in solidarity with those in need around the world. We encourage you to partake in this Lenten journey at home with your family and loved ones.

Since Operation Rice Bowl's inception in 1975, US Catholics have generously contributed over $118 million to help fund Catholic Relief Services' development projects in over 65 countries, as well as poverty and hunger alleviation programs throughout the United States. These projects include agricultural enrichment, water sanitation, maternal/child health, microfinance and job training. All of these projects help to promote human dignity and encourage self-reliance
