Liturgy Notes for Feb/Mar

  • Thank You to all who helped out over Christmas.
  • Welcome! to all who volunteered through their Stewardship cards or otherwise. All the new people are on the schedule in CAPITAL letters.
  • Easter is later this year so Holy Week/Easter will be on the April/May schedule. Let me know by next time if you are unavailable for Easter weekend. Also, let me know if you can help with Holy Week, especially the Vigil.
  • The rule of thumb for leaders is to start replacing people at 10 minutes before Mass.  If a leader is comfortable waiting a few minutes longer (especially in bad weather) that’s fine. However, once you’ve been replaced, please accept the situation graciously. Some days there are multiple people who need to be replaced and this takes time. Once someone has been asked to “fill in” that position has been filled.

Communion Ministers

When you are finished distributing communion from the cup, cover the chalice with the purificator. Please don’t stuff it into the chalice where there may be wine left in the bottom.

Lectors

Did you get your Lector Workbook? If not, let me know and I will see that you get a copy.

Also, take the time to read the introduction in the workbook. It provides very good background information.

Take a deep breath….Remember that pause between the end of the reading and “The Word of the Lord”. It really does make a difference!

Leaders

Regarding the note above for replacing people…..10 minutes before Mass does not need to be set in concrete. If you’re comfortable waiting a few minutes longer, that’s fine. However, once you’ve replaced someone, it’s done. To ask someone to fill in and then say “never mind” is not fair to the person who has been nice enough to help out.

Remember that schedules and notes are posted on the parish website. Go to  (http://www.saintrita.org)  under “Ministries”, then “Liturgical Ministries”.
NOTE: When you get to the schedules, use the far right scroll bar to find the other schedules. Otherwise you’ll only see the Leader schedule.
