Parish Pastoral Council - Nomination Form

Dear Parishioners,

During the years since Vatican II, much has been said about having the laity involved in church. We have recognized the value and the importance of their talents and experience. We have also come to recognize that the church belongs to all of us and we all need to share the responsibility for it. So, we asked people to share their talents, to gift the church with their time, and to accept serious responsibilities for their parishes. It is time for us to consider new members for our Parish Pastoral Council. Each year we select two (2) women and two (2) men to serve a three year term, and two (2) youth to serve a one year term. Every three years we select (1) young adult 18-25 years of age to serve a three year term.

We are asking the Parish at large to submit names of parishioners they feel would serve well on the Council. This is not a commitment for anyone, merely a suggestion. Please incorporate the following criteria when submitting names:

SPIRITUAL GROWTH -- giving oneself to a spiritual journey; a willingness to grow in the Lord. We are not looking for perfect people, but are looking for those who are willing to make a commitment to their personal spirituality.
COMMITMENT -- someone who is willing to commit to one meeting per month for three years, and be a liaison to one standing committee.
SKILLS and TALENT -- the ability to work well with others.
MOTIVATION -- a call to ministry to serve your fellow parishioners.
TRAINING -- one day leadership conference.

You may use this form, call the parish office at 671-1100 OR send an email to the parish office with the names of qualified parishioners by the weekend of May 16 & 17, 2009.

We appreciate your cooperation and willingness to work with us on this important process. Our current council members would be happy to provide you information or answer any questions. St. Rita Parish Pastoral Council Mission Statement

In accord with Canon 536, we are called by the parish to serve as a consultative body to the pastor in assuring that all aspects of parish life reflect the mission and ministry of Jesus Christ in our faith community. The council shall have as its foundation, prayer and reflection on the Gospel. Through discernment and consensus building we will seek to identify the will of the Holy Spirit and respond to the needs, ideas, and hopes of our parish family. While we are called to be a Catholic Community of Faith, Worship and Service, we are committed to fostering evangelization and hospitality. We are pledged to responsible stewardship as we prepare for the future.

PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL - NOMINATION FORM

We are asking you at this time to submit names of registered parishioners you feel would serve well on our Parish Pastoral Council. When submitting names, please consider parishioners who can share their motivation, spirituality and are able to give of their Time and Talent for the good of our parish. Your nomination of a person is not a commitment for them. It is simply an invitation for them to consider pursuing the selection process.
This year we will be selecting 2 women, 2 men and one young adult (18-25) for a three-year term and 2 youth (15-18) to serve a one-year term.
